Two years later, the completed novel, ""The Outsiders"", was published. Hinton made publishing history, single-handedly creating a new genre of fiction - the young adult novel. S.E. Hinton tells the story of the teenager who was the author of such young adult classics as ""That Was Then"", ""This Is Now"", and ""Rumble Fish"".
