It explores the significant features of the various indigenous societies that have existed over this time, paying particular attention to everyday life, customs and beliefs, art and cultural expression, and economic and technological features such as trade and land management. Australia and its Peoples also looks at the arrival of the white colonists, the process of colonisation and its legacy for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, and explores the question of an 'Australian identity'.
