The new level 3 certificate 'Working in Community Health Care', has been revised and the focus of the qualification is on best practice with adults with mental health problems aged from 18 up to 65 years who are in contact with mental health and care and support services. The Certificate combines the development of knowledge with the development of practical skills, with the aim of improving people's practice. Pavilion and the Mental Health Foundation have collaborated to publish a set of resources to support delivery of the Certificate and to provide a range of staff with comprehensive learning opportunities for continuing professional development. Learners are encouraged to understand the diversity of needs of people with mental health problems and the importance of an individual approach to exploring options for intervention, enabling self-management wherever possible. It is relevant to the promotion of mental health in all settings, not just specialist mental health services.
