On track with numeracy foundations phase series aims to solve the challenge of continuous outcomes-based assessment. On track with numeracy is especially designed to meet the requirement of the Revised National Curriculum Statement. Each unit focuses on the five learning outcomes: numbers, operations & relationships; patern; shape and space; measurement; and data. In the teacher's guide there are many ideas for classroom activites, as well as explanations about; the conepts covered; the progression of concepts; how activities relate to the learning outcomes. On track with numeracy is organized by learning outcomes and grade by units. The single teacher's guide for grades R-3 helps the teacher to place each learner at the appropriate level of development in each learning area. It helps teachers to let learners work at their own pace: learners who understand any particular outcome can move ahead with that outcome, while learners who find the concepts difficult fan go back to previous units to consolidate the building blocks of that concept. A photocopiable assessment portfolio for each grade is provided for rating the learners' success. Rubrics are included.
