A meticulously prepared and presented basic fun hand embroidery primer for children, complete with mini-needlework kit, produced by Bella Lane, graduate of the Royal School of Needlework, originally from the Peruvian Amazon. This hand stitching primer is the first in a series, as the title implies, soon to be followed by "Second Steps" and so on. The concept was created by best selling author John Lane, in which Peruchita, the little girl in the story, is inspired during her daily walk to school by the wonders of the rain forest to create a succession of stitches which she works into an embroidered gift for her mother. Clear and simple step by step instructions are included, together with a succession of apt and precise drawings at every stage. And finally, this delightful little book is beautifully and colourfully illustrated by celebrity artist Adebanji Alade from Nigeria.
