Famous as a centre of trade and entertainment, the Waterfront area in Cape Town is also a place where people have experienced hard labour, imprisonment and colonial exploitation. This work seeks to unwrap centuries of complex history at the place now visited by millions in its new role as the Waterfront Development. It is intended to accompany secondary school class visits, and should also be of interest to tourists and visitors to the Waterfront.
