An analogy of death using a bird in a cage, who experiences the joy of exploring what lies beyond the rainbow. This helps explain to a young child that death, although sad, is not to be feared, but rather an adventure we will all go on one day. My late husband had Motor Neurone Disease, and the writing of this book helped our five young children to accept the inevitability of his death in a positive and compassionate way, yet allowing them to still feel connected to him after his passing. This is a helpful tool for an adult to use to have a conversation about death with a young child and to help answer some of the difficult questions that arise. I experienced Breast Cancer 5 years after my husband died, and again, this book helped us to understand that death is not to be feared, but it is how we live our daily life and how we act to transform our communities that really matters, and that death is a part of this journey we will all take, beyond the rainbow, one day.
