A tale of teenage pregnancy and its effects on those surrounding the situation, this text features the character Thandi, who is her mother's pride and joy. Thandi herself has ambitions to go to unversity. But one careless mistake costs her everything. There is no going back, but how can she face the way forward?

Shelley Davidow was born in South Africa and has lived in the UK and US. She has been a researcher, teacher and lecturer. Her novel for older children, The Spirit of the Mountain, was nominated for the first Macmillan Writer's Prize for Africa in 2002. Krystyna Emilia Kurzyca was born, raised and artistically educated in post-World War II, communist Poland.
