Meet RORY BRANAGAN - he eats bad guys for breakfast. Well, not ACTUALLY. But he IS the best detective in town. First in a hilarious illustrated comedy-crime series for kids.

Hello. I am Rory Branagan. I am ACTUALLY a detective.

People always say, `How do you become a detective?'

And I say, `Ahhhh... you don't just FIND YOURSELF suddenly sneaking up on baddies, or diving out of the way as they shoot, or hurtling from an open plane towards the ground! You have to WANT it.'

And what made ME want it? I needed to find out what happened to my dad...

There are seven books in the RORY BRANAGAN (DETECTIVE) series and this is the first, in which you meet Rory and his Accomplice, Cassidy, as they investigate the poisoning of Rory's next-door neighbour. Rory's adventures are all highly illustrated so you can see everything he gets up to in glorious black and white. Perfect for readers aged 8 and up.

I really enjoyed this book and would definitely give it 5/5 ⭐️. It is an adventure and mystery, with a some bold and brave characters, some shy yet determined and some extremely mysterious. This book is set out quite comicish with some pictures. Definitely a book to recommend!

This is a great book about a boy called Tory Brannigan. He is a normal boy except his dad left him when he was three.  Since then Rory has been on a mission to find the answer to these questions: Why did he go? Where did he go? But when he saw his friends dad be poisoned by a takeaway Rory is on a mission to solve this mystery...

We really enjoyed this - it's a book about Rory who aspires to be a detective.  His Dad has gone "missing" and he wants to find out where he's gone but first there's a poisoning mystery to be solved.
We loved the illustrations that are plentiful throughout the book - a brilliant book for kids as they transition from picture books!  The writing is in small, fun chunks and Rory has an imagination that takes all sorts of bonkers turns.
We look forward to reading more in this series

I first liked this book as Rory Branagan and I have the same name. The illustration are great and I like not having so many words on the page. This book is a story about Rory and his friend Cassidy being dectectives, they investigate why Rory's dad disappeared when he was 3 and end up having to investigate strange poisonings happening. I loved this and can't wait for the next book.

Rory is a normal boy, except his dad disappeared when he was three. Ever since he left, Rory has been longing to know where he is but that will have to wait. His friends dad has been poisoned by a takeaway and Rory must find out what has happened. With help from Rory's best friend Cassidy, nothing will stop them.

My favourite character in this book was Cassidy because she is a very good detective and always knows a person's next move.

I loved illustrations in this book. This book was funny and a little scary. I would recommend it for children aged 7 and over.

When I opened the book I could tell it was going to be a good book because from the beginning it introduced Rory Branagan in an effective way. The story is an action type story and I like the way Andrew Clover has written it. The illustrations are also really cool and make the story fun. When I read this book, I can’t put it down.

This is a perfect book for my daughter who struggles to read for long and is still not the most confident reader. It’s filled with fun pictures on every page which helps keep the readers interest and each page doesn’t feel too daunting. It’s a fun story with a likeable main character. Highly recommend for any child who is is still transitioning from picture books to chapter books
