The lessons are arranged in themes, which expose learners to real-life situations. Language is embedded within the themes and is taught in context. There is a lot if writing, spelling, language stories and activities that re-inforce what has been learnt. Sounds (phonics) are a key factor in the teaching of languages and these are taught in context.
