The lessons are arranged in themes, which expose learners to real-life situations. Language is embedded within the themes and is taught in context. There is a lot if writing, spelling, language stories and activities that re-inforce what has been learnt. Sounds (phonics) are a key factor in the teaching of languages and these are taught in context.

Reviva Schermbrucker grew up in Johannesburg. She has worked as an art lecturer, schoolteacher and materials developer at a non-government organisation.
