The aim of this dynamic course is to challenge learners to explore the world around them and to use language effectively and creatively. It focuses on the Specific Outcomes for the Literacy learning programme and also integrates the Numeracy and Life Orientation programmes. The components of this course for Grades 1 and 2 comprise Activity Books, Storybooks, Posters, and Teacher's Resource Books. A Learner's Book and Teacher's Guide are available for Grade 3. The material provides ideas for continuous assessment and developing confidence and critical awareness within a South African content. It caters for varying competence levels, is easy and enjoyable to use and forms part of a series which runs from Grades 1 to 12. Phase Organisers and integrated learning areas are also indicated.
