Miriam is an excitable but warm, loving, ordinary child, living with her grandmother. She loves raising rabbits and she begins to think about becoming a vet. Next door lives Charlie. One day his football goes into Miriam's grandmother's garden. He goes around to collect it and a friendship is born. Two other friends, Baxter and Trudy, share their adventures, hopes and aspirations as they grow into young adults.
