This is one of my daughters favourite books, perfectly matched to the point when they are looking for more grown up books but not quite ready. Fun layout that keeps them interested.

We already like Francesca Simon's Horrid Henry books and saw this at the library and decided to pick it for my son's summer reading challenge. It is a very funny story about a girl going to school....but school is not quite what it seems - a gorilla for a teacher, no toilets, no books, snails and spiders for school dinner and the first letter of the alphabet is 'Z'??  We would recommend this book it is cleverly written and a page-turner for young readers.

We love the Horrid Henry series so had no trouble picking up another book by Francesca Simon. My son read this to me in one night and absolutely loved it. When Kate is having a bad morning she gets out of bed on the wrong side. After that things get worse and worse. When she goes to school her new teacher is a huge Gorilla (literally), there are no toilets in the whole school. Even worse the Gorilla teacher tells her that A is not the first letter of the alphabet - it's Z. What can Kate do to fix this nightmare of a day? Perhaps if she goes back to bed she can start all over again. A really funny book that had us laughing and gasping out loud. We would definitely recommend it and love the Early Reader series.
