This is Arf's first novel-length adventure, for a slightly older age group, and is a perfect summer read. Arf expects to have to stay at home during the school holidays, while his sisters enjoy a trip to France. However, because of his customary haplessness, the plans go awry and he find himself running a camping ground and re-enacting a battle between the Saxons and the Normans! Acclaim for the series: '...a quartet of books with robust child appeal ...the brief is clearly to appeal to those recently emerging from reading schemes but requiring continuing support. But the stories have a fresh originality that will make them great favourites' - Lindsey Fraser, Guardian Education Book of the Week, 13/05/03.
This is Book 15 in the Black Cats Series. See all Black Cats books here.
