I Want to be a Baker is the second book in the Traditional Career Series which describes traditional careers in the British Virgin Islands in the early 1900s.
Marie’s mother is a seamstress, but Marie has no interest in following in her mother’s footsteps and becoming a seamstress. She wants to be a baker. Marie finally gets the courage to ask her mother if she can become a baker. With her mother’s permission Marie is apprenticed to Miss Wilda the village baker.
