The story of Sally Sapling - a copper beech tree rescued as a sapling and replanted in a beautiful park area. This book recounts, through her eyes, some of the historical events and changes in society she has witnessed during her hundred-year lifetime, from the suffragettes, through the second world war years, the sixties 'Summer of Love', the industrial unrest in the 1980s, to the current day, with many more stops in between.
