"Stage 3 First Phonics" is the latest addition to the "First Phonics" series. It contains six new titles of 16 pp that enable children to practise phonics whilst learning to read. The stories written by Roderick Hunt have colourful illustrations by Alex Brychta. Each story practises initial and final consonants, includes CVC words plus CVCC/CCVC words, and practises Reception/Y1 sight words. Each page has 1-2 sentences. The Teachers Note booklet included in the pack is the same size as the pupil books, for easy classroom management. They include a list of Teaching Objectives, a Vocabulary chart listing phonic words, rhyming words, high frequency words and context words. The Curriculum coverage chart covers activities and outcomes for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. For each Phonic story there are sections on Group and independent reading activities, Practising phonics, Practising rhyme, Speaking and listening activities and Writing, each with relevant NLS Objectives. Within each section are suggestions for responding to each story, personal experiences and cross curricular links, role play, and suggestions on how to observe pupils' progress.
All with a helpful and easy-to-use layout. These Teaching Notes come free with each pack of "Stage 3 First Phonics", but can be purchased separately, if additional, or replacement copies are needed.
