Part of a series designed to meet the wider reading needs of those studying for GCSE English, this anthology presents students with many different types of sports writing including sports journalism, poetry, stories about memorable sporting moments and sports biography. Special activities are presented in a section at the end of the text. Background information on each of the featured writers is provided, as well as ideas for discussion, charted events, dramatization and script-writing activities, written reports and an analysis of style and language. There are suggestions for coursework in an "Extended Activities" section, and an extensive booklist is also provided.
