A whimsical-yet factual-series of questions and answers about the things we eat... and don't eat! Food critic Joshua David Stein whets the appetite of young readers with a wondrous and informative approach to talking about food. This humorous, stylized and entirely unexpected set of food facts will engage both good eaters and resisters alike. With questions both practical ("Can you eat a sea urchin?") and playful ("Do eggs grow on eggplants?"), this read-aloud text offers young children facts to share and the subtle encouragement to taste something new! Food and textile illustrator Julia Rothman brings an authenticity to the text that Stein has written from the heart, for his own three year-old and for pre-schoolers everywhere. Created for ages 3-5 years

This book arrived today and has already been read several times!
Leo and Georgie loved all the questions and trying to answer them. They loved recognising the foods and they found lots of it funny!
The illustrations are simple but colourful and clear.
A fun, interactive book.

This is a fun, bright and interesting book.  Full of questions on what foods we can eat, and funny food facts.  My daughter was caught out with some surprising foods.  we giggled our way through this interactive book and had lots of fun thinking through what we can and can't eat.  Now to stop my daughter trying to cook up the garden snails!

My 2year old enjoyed this book. She enjoyed telling me the foods on the pages she knew and then guessing whether or not you could eat the food that was more unfamiliar to her, like A sea urchin. A lot of things she was surprised that you could eat. We both learnt something from the book and I liked that the illustrations were simple. It got my daughter talking about food and asking questions about things she eats. She loved the last page where it says can I eat? And has pictures of various things, such as animals, food and then silly things like pants. She enjoyed going through them saying whether you can eat them or not, and she  found the silly ones like pants funny as you can't eat them. We don't come across many books like this about food, so I thought it was really good.

This is a really fun book with lots of colourful pictures and different foods to talk about.  It has some really interesting facts as you read along, a lot of which I didn't know!

My daughter has really enjoyed reading this with me.  She has been a little fussy with her food recently so I am trying to introduce her to different foods in other ways so she can become more used to them and ask more questions about foods.

We have really enjoyed reading this book together and can see us continuing to enjoy it for some time to come.

I read it myself (an adult)

Both myself & three year old enjoyed this book, as did my husband when he read it for bedtime. My three year old found some parts amusing & it taught new knowledge. She especially enjoyed sharing her knowledge about parts that she knew ie; chickens lay eggs & chickens hatch from eggs. The bright pictures & informative facts are brilliant for her, however I think it was rather short & more could have been included. It has sparked some good conversations about food & my daughter is keen to read again so all in all, a good book for this age group.
