I read it to Charlie aged 1 aged 1
A Gold Star for George 9781848861718

What a lovely book about George the Giraffe and his friends in the zoo. My son (18 mths) loves any sort of animal book and this one was no different, he loved pointing to the animas (which are beautifully illustrated on each page) and trying to make their noises. The story itself is equally as charming as the illustrations and carries a lovely moral behind it. George is excited at the prospect of winning a gold star at the upcoming awards, George helps the other animals (who subsequently win awards) and is pleased for all his friends but he doesn't win an award himself. His friends however get together and make gold starts for George for things such as 'always have a smile', 'kind to small animals', 'helps his friends'. My son at 18 mths is currently a little too young to understand this moral however it will certainly be a book that I return to time and time again when he is older and can understand this, in the meantime however he will continue to pick out his favourite animals of the lovely bright animal pictures.

I really liked this book because it made me feel good. I liked that the giraffe had the same name as me. It wasn't a scary book.

This was a lovely book that teaches children to be kind and helpful to their friends whilst celebrating their achievements. George is a loveable character because he is modest and encourages his friends.

We all really loved the book the children wanted to read it night after night! I like the fact that it shows if you try and try in the end you will get rewarded. Love George's character he is loveable, helpful and friendly which is a brilliant thing to teach children that read it, The story is brilliant and make me want to go out and buy the other books like this and I would recommend this to other children as both ours enjoyed it thoroughly.

I read it to Lil aged 2 aged 2
A Gold Star for George 9781848861718
5 stars
What a great story of friendship. Gerald really wanted to win the contest and get a gold star but he was happy to see his friends win. It really teaches children about how loosing isn't always a bad thing and that you have to be happy for your friends. Fun characters and a happy ending. Lovely colourful illustrations and Lil really enjoyed this story.

The wildlife park is awarding gold stars to the animals, but will Goerge the giraffe get one. A very cute book that my daughter enjoyed. The text is simple and the pictures are great and bright, and there are great themes such as kindness and friendship, and I liked how it showed how rewarding it can be to help a friend. It will be a great book for when my daughter is slightly older and she can understand the messages in the book better.

This is a lovely story about animals in a zoo competing for different awards. Not only does it incorporate all the animal favourites (penguins, monkeys, elephants etc) but also has a great message that helping others brings its own rewards. Great illustrations as well. I will definitely look out for the others in the series. Read by a 6 year old
