Books to Read if You Love Rainbow Magic

Test

Illustrated series are brilliant for newly independent readers. Children take comfort in the predictable plots and familiar characters and can really build their confidence reading alone.

There are many series to choose from for kids starting to enjoy the longer stories in chapter books (discover more on our blog From Picture Books to Chapter Books), but one of the most popular of all for ages 5+ has to be the Rainbow Magic books.

We know only too well how hard it can be to encourage your child to read anything else once they have the Rainbow Magic bug and we are here to help with recommendations!

The new Sticker Dolly Stories series is perfect for kids who love Rainbow Magic. The sweet stories, black and white illustrations and magical universe are great for newly independent readers.

Rainbow Magic is a bestselling series for ages 5+, which follows the adventures of Rachel Walker and Kirsty Tate, best friends who are members of the secret alliance of fairies! Whenever their winged friends are in need, Rachel and Kirsty are always happy to help.

With short chapters, a simple story and eye-catching illustrations throughout, the Rainbow Magic series is a great introduction to longer books.

Each book follows the same pattern - the girls help the fairies find their missing magical charms and their problem-solving and friendship save the day from the evil plots of the Wicked Jack Frost and his goblin minions.

Young readers love to discover all the different fairies from The Music Fairies to The Endangered Animals Fairies, there is something for every interest.

Check out the whole Rainbow Magic series here.

The Sticker Dolly Stories books are also a great transition for readers 5+ looking for longer books to read.

The charming black-and-white illustrations on every page and short chapters make the books accessible for emerging readers, whether they are reading alone or sharing the story with you. Each book also comes with one sheet of stickers, to dress the dolls.

Much like the Rainbow Magic series, each Sticker Dolly book sees a new adventure and mission for the dolls, following a similar story. The dolls get a new mission brief, and costume of course, in every story and have to work as a team to help out their friends and complete the task.

Young readers love the predictability of these stories and getting to know the Magic Dolls, Princess Dolls and Animal Rescue Dolls over the course of the stories.

Check out the whole Sticker Dolly Stories series here and you can see some example spreads below too.

The dolls all live together in Dolly Town - the Magic Dolls look after magical creatures on the Enchanted Isle and the Princess dolls help the dolls on the Majestic Isle.

Each book follows the dolls on a mission to help each other. Whether they are rescuing a frightened unicorn, saving a fairy picnic from the Trolls or helping the Cloud Princess prepare for her dance at the Grand Welcome Ceremony, there is plenty of magic, friendship and adventure in every story.

We love the simple stories and accessible text for young readers.
