New Tom Gates book publishing in May

If your kids are anything like my son, they'll be waiting with baited breath for the next Tom Gates book and will read it cover to cover as soon as they get their hands on it. Biscuits, Bands and Very Big Plans by the brilliant Liz Pichon comes out on 3rd May.

Wimpy Kid Book #13 will publish on 30th October

Did you know that the Wimpy Kid Series has sold over 200 million copies worldwide and is published in over 56 languages in over 140 countries? The next book comes out in October this year but the title and cover will be revealed on 1st May.

The Hate U Give wins The Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2018 

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (Walker Books) has won this year's Waterstones Children's Book Prize, whilst Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend (Hachette Children's Books) wins the Younger Fiction Category and The Secret of Black Rock by Joe Todd-Stanton (Flying Eye Books) wins the Illustrated Books Category. The Shortlists for the 2018 CILIP Kate Greenaway and CILIP Carnegie Awards Announced

The CILIP Kate Greenaway Award celebrates the best in children's illustrated publishing and has some fantastic lesser-known picture books on this year's list;  you can see the full 2018 Kate Greenaway Shortlist here. The 2018 CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded anually to the writer of an outstanding book for children. Patrick Ness is in the running for his third Carnegie Medal win with his new book Release, which would make him the first author to secure a hat-trick in the Medal’s 81-year history. Second Fantastic Beasts Screenplay coming this November

The original screenplay for the second film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald by J.K. Rowling will be published on 16th November this year, the same day that the film will be released at the cinema. You can see a trailer for the film, starring Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Jonny Depp over on Youtube. The screenplay for the first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, published in November 2016, became one of the bestselling screenplays of all time.

Paddington Bear celebrates 60 years!

To mark 60 years since Paddington was first published, there will be new editions released later this year of the first Paddington books and the publication of Paddington at St. Paul's the last book written by Michael Bond before he died in 2017. 

Judith Kerr publishes new picture book

Mummy Time by Judith Kerr (author of The Tiger Who Came to Tea) is publishing in the Autumn! We don't know much about this new picture book yet, other than that it's set in a park and is the story of a child whose mother gets distracted by her mobile phone...

And finally...there's a new book coming from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler are teaming up again for a new book about aliens but you'll have to wait a while, it's not publishing until September 2019!
