Sue Cowing grew up in Galesburg, Illinois, a town much like Ferrisburg, where Parker lives. After teaching history and Asian studies at La Pietra School in Honolulu, Sue earned an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and began writing poetry and children's fiction full-time. Sue remains fascinated by Chinese and Japanese culture, and practises t'ai chi and taiko drumming in her home in Hawaii. She found Drog's voice after she made her own funny, green puppet. Call Me Drog is her debut novel.
