Rita Phillips Mitchell was born in Belize and came to England in the 1960s. A retired head teacher, she has published a number of children's titles including Hue Boy (Puffin), There is More to a Banana and One for Me, One for You (both Walker). She lives in Essex. Alex Ayliffe is a well-known children's book illustrator. Her titles for Orchard include the bestselling Dig Dig Digging, Emergency! and Choo Choo Clickety-Clack! Her board book Boo Barney won the Sainsbury's Baby Book Award. Alex lives in Hertfordshire with her family.
