Peggy Bennette Hume believes that a positive awareness of a child's culture creates pride and acceptance in shaping their identity. She is a black British Playwright and a performance Poet. She is a published childrens' author, and Master Teaching Artist. In 1986 Peggy was appointed the first Writer-in-residence at the Battersea Arts Centre, in South London, England. Since then she has completed many residencies in the UK, USA, and the Caribbean.
