Karen Romano Young is an experienced science writer for Scholastic News , Cricket Magazine , and National Geographic. Her books include Watching Whales , a nonfiction picture book (HarperCollins), and Doodlebug and Stuck in the Middle , each a "novel in doodles" (Macmillan/Feiwel & Friends). As an author and artist, she has participated in ocean studies out of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and is a Communications Fellow with Robert Ballard's Ocean Exploration Trust.
