Martin was born in Cambridge. He spent the best part of twenty years in the forces. He met his wife whilst serving with 22 SAS
in Hereford. They have two grown-up sons.

After the forces Martin had a number of jobs, and ended up with his own business. Upon retirement, he assisted Sandra with disabled people in their own homes. They now live near the Great Fen Project in Cambridgeshire, where Martin enjoys reading, walking and visiting his local - the lowest pub in the British Isles.
