John Gilmore is an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, where he is a member of the Centre for Caribbean Studies and the Centre for Translation and Comparative Cultural Studies. He spent many years living in Barbados where, after teaching at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies and at Queen's College, he later worked at the National Cultural Foundation and then as Managing Editor of a regional newspaper, Caribbean Week . He has travelled extensively in the Caribbean and is the author of numerous books, articles and reviews on aspects of Caribbean history, literature and culture. He is one of the authors of the A-Z of Barbados Heritage (Macmillan Caribbean, 2003) and one of the editors of The Oxford Companion to Black British History (Oxford University Press, 2007).

Beryl Allen manages the Instructional Development Unit, UWI Mona, and has over thirty years experience of teaching history.

Dian McCallum teaches in the Department for Educational Studies, UWI Mona, and is also an experienced teacher of history.

Romila Ramdeen teaches at Saraswati Girls' Hindu College, Trinidad and Tobago.
