Jared Bane was born in the Midlands. The seventh son of a seventh son, he has always been interested in magic, and used to amuse his brothers with conjuring tricks while they were growing up. After leaving school, he worked as a street magician and owned the biggest magic bookshop in Manchester until it mysteriously burned down. Deciding that perhaps it would be safer to write books about magic rather than sell them, he started working on Spell Hunters. Jared now lives on Dartmoor with his wolfhound, Sauron, and a large collection of antique swords.
