Huy Voun Lee arrived in New York City at the age of six as a Cambodian refugee. She grew up on the Upper West Side playing with the scrap papers her mother brought home from the office. Because of these papers, Huy traded in crying for many quiet hours spent paper-cutting, doodling, and folding origami. Huy has written and illustrated many books for children, including At the Beach, In the Snow, and In the Park with Henry Holt, and Origami Playhouse for Chronicle. She loves using a colorful cut paper style and incorporating Chinese characters into her work. She teaches schoolchildren origami at the Museum of Natural History. Huy studied at the School of Visual Arts and lives with her husband on the Upper West Side in New York City. Learn more about Huy at huyvounlee.com and connect with her @huyvounlee.
