Humphrey Wine is curator of French seventeenth- and eighteenth-century paintings at the National Gallery. His previous publications include the catalogue of the National Gallery exhibition Claude - The Poetic Landscape and articles and reviews on other painters such as Boilly, Le Sueur, Peyron, Poussin, and Watteau.
