Dorothea DePrisco grew up in a small Long Island south shore hamlet, Blue Point. As a child, she wrote stories and drew pictures about her neighbors and handed them out as gifts. She fondly remembers the joy on people's faces when they read her stories, and this memory drives her to spark the imagination of children every day. A former editor at Scholastic Book Clubs and a high school English teacher, she has written more than 90 books for young readers. Recent titles include Smithsonian Discover: Earth, Discovery Spaceopedia, Animal Planet Baby Animals, and Who's in the Ocean? She lives in Vacaville, CA.
