A fifth-generation Texan and the author of more than twenty-five books, Sherry Garland writes of history and tells stories about interesting people. Her childrens historical picture books, Voices of the Alamo and The Buffalo Soldier, have earned rave reviews for their understandable and personable story lines complemented by vibrant illustrations by Ronald Himler. Garland received her bachelor of arts degrees in French and English from the University of Texas at Arlington. She and her husband live in Bryan, Texas. A professional artist and graphic designer, Layne Johnson has created art for more than a dozen childrens books, several of which have earned him honors and awards, including the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award winner Brians Bird. He earned a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Houston. Johnson is a member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators and the Picture Book Artists Association.
