Graham Philpot was born and brought up in Suffolk. He worked in design, editorial and advertising ("from Mars bar labels, to Times newspaper cartoons, to London Transport posters"), before turning to children's books after the birth of his first child. In 1994 he won the Children's Book Award for Best Picture Book for Amazing Anthony Ant, produced with his wife Laura. Anthony Ant is now an international television cartoon character!
