This is a great book for aiding the imagination! It is a useful book for helping to teach shapes and the possibilities of what they can be. With beautiful pictures and creative ways to use different fonts and layouts makes this book a pleasure to read. The addition of a poster and stickers makes it a hit with both my children!

This was a really fun and clever book. Doodle Girl uses her imagination and magic pencil to change her notebook world and help her friends. I love how much was done with a triangle. It was also interesting that the word triangle was never used in the book. It allows children to view something familiar in a different way, which is great for developing critical thinking skills. The story is fun, with moments of tension. There is so much creativity in the plot, illustrations, and even the text. This makes it a great story to encourage creative fun. The included stickers and poster are also a wonderful way to further engage children and encourage them to doodle, too. I'd love to see more of Doodle Girl's adventures.

The illustrations in this book are just lovely, we really like them and my 5 year old has been copying them from this book.  I love that this has inspired her to draw.  My 5 year old really enjoyed this book, but most of all enjoyed the large page of colouring at the back.  This was a prize from Toppsta and we are really grateful.  This is a great gift for children 4-7 and a few of our friends will be getting this for Christmas.

This arrived today and Georgie couldn't wait for it to be her bedtime story.
I love the use of imagination in this story that turns a simple shape into a wonderful adventure. It led us to talk about other shapes and what they could become. A great learning opportunity without the children even realising it! The text is in a huge variety of fonts and of different sizes and orientations which makes the text fun and interesting. There are also lines that are repeated that Georgie quickly picked up on.
The illustrations are fabulous. They are not over complicated and fully support the text to aid the young reader's/listener's understanding.
This version came with a large poster to colour in and a sheet of stickers which were quickly out and being used!

My daughter loved that the book was about a girl like her and enjoyed the magic of what she could do with her pencil. The pages are filled with gorgeous illustrations and my little girl had lots of fun pointing out everything that she could see.

The book even included a drawing page which went down well!

Lovely book  - Great for taking out and about
The doodle poster and stickers are a super bonus
4/5, as the story loops all over the page, so a little difficult for Mai to see where I was reading

Doodle girl lives in a sketchbook and uses her magical pencil to make things to use / visit imaginary places. In this book she comes across a triangle and turns it into the landing gear of a plane... in which she and her friends visit an island.... find a monkey in danger of being eaten by crocodiles! She doodles a spoon into which the monkey jumps, and is saved.... but the crocodiles interest is now diverted from the monkey toward Doodle girl and her friends! So she quickly draws a huge ice-cream... and the crocodiles are far too full after eating that to eat the gang! The style of the book is quite stark - red/black/white doodles - and uses a variety of fonts & font sizes (and directions of text) to add interest. The book's layout (curly fonts etc) wouldn't make it suitable for a new reader - yet an older reader would find the story content rather limited - indeed it hasnt really captured our 3yr old's imagination when read to her. I was disappointed.
