There are musical goings-on at Ghastly-Gorm Hall and another spooky mystery for Ada Goth to solve in Goth Girl and the Sinister Symphony, the fourth book in the Goth Girl series by Chris Riddell, Children's Laureate 2015-2017. Lord Goth is throwing a music festival at Ghastly-Gorm Hall, with performances from the finest composers in the land. Ada can't wait, but it's quite distracting when her grandmother is trying to find her father a fashionable new wife, there's a faun living in her wardrobe and Maltravers is up to his old tricks. Ada must make sure everything goes to plan, and luckily help is at hand from a very interesting house guest . . .

I hdn't read an of the other Goth girl books when I read this book but I will now. There is a spooky mystery for Ada Goth to solve and it is exciting to read.  Lord Goth is having a music festival at Ghastly-Gorm Hall and  Ada can't wait, but  her grandma is trying to find her dad a new wife. Other exciting and funny things happen like  there's a faun living in her wardrobe Ada is trying to sure everything goes well.

This book is wonderful great illustrations and the pages on the outside are green.  The pictures are in black and white but have short paragraphs that are easily readable for children.  So far there is going to be a festival and Ada goths grandma is trying to find her father a new wife.  Still reading as the book is quite thick, this would make a great present and is different to all other books because the pages are coloured thanks toppsta

This book immediately grabbed my eye, I loved the cover, the illustrations, the quirkiness of having an extra free teeny weeny book and the metallic green edges of the pages. Although it is a children's book I decided it was worth a read, particularly as I haven't read much children's fiction since I was young. The story was in my opinion a little too basic for my reading preference but for children i think it would be a favourite and I would recommend this book to young children. I enjoyed the references to real people in today's media with the choice of character names and their personalities and the illustrations of these characters being just as amusing. My favourite aspect personally however was the contents of the teeny tiny book which linked to a personal childhood favourite of mine. overall a good addition to any child's growing book shelf.

This books is visually stunning - really great quality paper, illustrations & funky green sparkly pages!  My son was instantly flicking through it & admiring it!
The characters are really well drawn and my son loves Maltravers in particular - he was spellbound when I read this to him and I think we'll seek out the others in the series now!

A very shiny, attractive book, which is definitely not let down by its content. In keeping with all his other books, Chris Riddell's illustrations are superbly detailed (Son: 'The best part'.) Like the first Goth Girl book, Goth Girl and the Sinister Symphony is filled with references to both fictional and real, historical and contemporary characters (an awful lot musical) 'Ladies of G.A.G.G.A', Simon Scowl, a variety of composers...). My son quickly got the reference to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and found the tiny book, 'Fable of a Faun', to be quite funny. Very quirky and clever, with a good dose of humour.

This was a beautiful book to look at and read. I loved the illustrations and decorative printing on the book.  My favourite character is Adas because she is very adventurous.  The story was full of mystery and excitement.  I liked when there was a music festival at Goth Hall.  I can't wait to read the other stories.

We'll start by saying the book itself, the art, green edged paged etc is absolutely high quality. My daughter was drawn in by that alone. The story is great, although she's only 7 going on 8 so perhaps a little young and some of the story passed her by. Overall she loved the humour and illustrations and would highly recommend this book and others in the series.

I have other Goth Girl books, and this one looks as good - it has shiny green pages and has a small book on the inside cover, 'Fable of a Faun' by Shaun Tumnus! The pictures inside are great and help you think what each character looks like.

I didn't enjoy this story as much as previous ones, I found I didn't like as many of the characters as I have with other books. This is a book I will hold onto and come back to I hope!
