The third title in Gary Northfield's exciting, action-packed and hysterically funny series brimming with entertaining Roman and Egyptian facts.

After being shipwrecked on the shores of Egypt and mistaken for a Horse God, Julius can't believe his luck! Soon he and his bedraggled friends will be living it up in the city of Alexandria; preened and pampered like gods. Then a fancy boat procession will take them down the River Nile to Giza where, of course, a lavish party will be thrown in Julius's honour - as well as getting the obligatory tour of the Pyramids. BUT it is this very tour that seems to signal the end to their glorious fortunes in Egypt. On a visit to the Tomb of Cleopatra, Felix is unable to resist a rather lovely looking treasure for his rock collection... He pockets the jewel and immediately a curse falls upon the group. And so the ridiculous adventure begins where Julius fights for his life as the Egyptians come to unravel the truth and realize that he is not quite what they thought he was...

What a fantastic and entertaining read! I received this book this morning, and have finished it tonight - I just couldn't put it down. Julius is a zany and engaging character, whose escapades are brilliantly written! I thoroughly loved the drawings scattered throughout the book, they brought the story to life! A totally perfect read for either a boy or girl from 7+.  We will definitely getting the others in this series of books!

Three of my students absolutely enjoyed reading this book. What an amazing read with such great reviews from my class. Children were delighted to read this non-fiction book with links to Egyptian history.
Perfect for 8-10 year olds.

As soon as I got this book, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it.  It is about the famous gladiator champion Julius Zebra who rebels the roman empire and persuades the Britonz to join him. In his book, Julius is chasing after one of Rome's important person Septimus and gets caught in a massive storm. Ship-wrecked on the shores of Egypt, the Egyptians mistake Julius, as the horse god called Heter. When having a tour of Egypt his friend Felix (the Antelope) cannot stop himself from taking a precious gem landing a curse on Julius and his friends. Julius must run for his life as Rome and Egypt realise he is an impostor. I loved this book!!

'Julius Zebra' is a funny and fast-paced book. Julius's life is full of fun and adventures. When he is shipwrecked on the shore of Ancient Egypt and mistaken for a Horse God his luck takes a new turn and he's being crowned Pharaoh of Egypt. Everything seems to be great for him and his friends till Egyptians realise that he's not God and bleeds like a mortal.
I think it's fantastic read. It differs from the books we've read so far as it's full of animals, shouting, panic, action and humour. The illustrations are brilliant and keep you laughing even more:) You can also learn a lot about Ancient Egypt, its history and traditions. The cover is beautifully designed.

I've been reading this book to my nearly 8 year old reluctant reader.  It's both funny and entertaining and very well written, it's certainly kept us both entertained and my son has actually read some of the book himself which is practically unheard of.  The illustrations work well with the story and we will definitely be looking out for other titles in the series.  We can thoroughly recommend this one.

My son loved the daftness of this book. He said it was 'very silly', in particular when Julius Zebra and his companies are disguised as Mummies.
He was particularly fond of Khepi the dung beetle. The illustrations are excellent and fit the comic nature of the book. Whilst I am nearly positive there were no zebra shipwrecked in this part of the world and then mistaken for Horse Gods, it is quite educational book. It acts as a great introduction to the Egyptian period for young readers, arousing their curiosity in history. At the back of the book there is information on Roman Numerals, Hieroglyphics and a glossary explaining the relevant historical terms. Overall, a laugh out loud book with educational benefits.

This is the first of this series that we've read but it wont be the last, we loved the story of Julius Zebra going through Ancient Egypt, and all of his exciting adventures. Handily it came just as my daughter was learning about Egypt at school, so she could really engage with the story

Another instalment in a fantastic series. My 8-year-old loved the madcap humour and hilarious scrapes that Julius Zebra managed to get himself into in Ancient Egypt. Perfect for anyone who loves funny books and history!

My daughter usually like these types of witty, quirky books , full of adventure but for some reason this one was just not for her. She couldn’t get into the story and in the end couldn’t finish it. She kept saying “let me just read 10 more pages and see if it gets better “ and even though she read more than half of the book, she had to give up on this one.
