Jon Scieszka introduces some really stupid off-the-wall fairy tales including: `Chicken Licken', `The Princess and the Bowling Ball'; `The Really Ugly Duckling', and `Jack's Bean Problem'. Chosen by children as the Book of the Year for the Federation of Children's Book Groups, the book was described by She magazine as, `The most delightful collection of stories a young cynic could hope to read'.

Oh my goodness, this is SUCH a funny book! It defies convention as it hurtles through a considerable number of fairy tales, twisting and turning upside down expectations. My children LOVE it and we have been reading it every night for nearly a week now. It is vastly entertaining to read as a adult, as it ignores the traditional plot of such tales (which can sometimes be quite dull in the telling). Snappy and fast pace this is a joy for all to read.
