Go into depth with the accompanying Bug Club text and ask questions that will challenge and grow a children's comprehension skills.
Using the worksheet, children choose one of the characters (Layla or Jess) and write a diary entry describing their journey back in time and one of the astronomers that they met. Remind them to write in role as the character, choosing language that reflects their personality.
Follow-up: children imagine meeting one of the astronomers and write the conversation they would have with them.
