If you lived in a house in the woods and all your friends were hibernating you'd probably hate winter, just like this little boy. But one day a strange spiky figure appears and transforms the boy's world into a winter wonderland! How long will the magic spell last? Kazuno Kohara's distinctive lino-cut illustrations and limited palette provide the perfect counterpart to her spare, witty storytelling in this stylish new picture book with great child appeal.

A wintery book which makes you feel cold when you read it lol.

The book only consists of two colours blue and white but its a lovely wintry tale, and when reading it as a bedtime story because its a "cold story" makes your child snuggle under the warm blankets even more.

An easy to read book and not too long so Ideal for bedtime storyies

This is a wonderful story about the joys of winter. A little boy and his dog are stuck inside in the winter and they are bored because all their friends are hibernating. Then the boy sees strange patterns on the window and ventures outside to find snow and Jack Frost. They have lots of fun playing in the snow. The boy gets to ice skate and ride his sled. He also gets to build snowmen and have a snowball fight. The book has some lovely illustrations and the pages are mainly blue and white which give a wonderful wintertime effect. It is a lovely story for showing children the fun of winter.

As we continue with our winter books, Jack Frost is an ideal story. This is a lovely tale where the illustrations help the chilly feel of the story as they are all blue and white. Jack Frost and the boy have a great winter sledging, ice skating and building snowmen until spring comes and Jack Frost disappears for another year.

A boy living in the woods with his dog is lonely and bored until the cold winters day that he meets Jack Frost. The boys life changes as he develops a close friendship with the mischevious and exciting Jack. A beautiful retelling of a classic tale that is delightfully told alongside simple and playful illustrations. This is a firm family favourite that is brought out each winter

This is lovely winter story of a boy who is lonely and finds friendship with Jack Frost. Together they have lots of winter fun, such as the snow ball fight which my boys loved. Lovely crisp illustrations too, just being blue and white which gives it that extra winter feel.

Another new book to our collection, this magical story has us longing for winter to kick in and the frosts to arrive.
A simple yet efffective re-telling of a well known story?in which the delights of playing in the frost and snow are demonstrated clearly though words and simple illustrations.
Georgie ended the story by asking me when it would snow so she could have a snowball fight!

This is a story about friendship..frosty by name only! It's so unusual in its paper cut illustration style that it really stands out as a picture book. Although there is a 'goodbye' in it I found that it didn't cause any upset unlike some others along the same theme. A great winter read.

Little boy meets Jack Frost, a white sprite-like figure, who turns the boy's  house, garden white with cold frost and ice. They become friends - skating, sledging, snowball fights - but the boy has to promise Jack never to mention anything "warm" in front of Jack. The boy accidentally mentions spring.... causing Jack to disappear.... however he returns the following winter and the friends are reunited. Really unusual yet simple illustrations and a nice wintery story.... but my 3.75yr old is afraid of the Jack Frost character in it (no matter how much I've tried to explain it) - I think its the jagged shape of his outline / pointy nose.... too akin to a "witch" for Sophie at the moment! So I think 5-star... but notching to 4 given the small person refuses to even pick it up on "scary" grounds!!!!
