This is a delightful book in which we see Mr and Mrs Brains prepare for the birth of their first child. They do all that they can to ensure that the baby will be intelligent - they play classical music, watch the news, listen to foreign languages and read to the bump. Their efforts pay off and they have an extraordinary intelligent baby! The love of the parents for their child is clear, and the book shows the equal importance of love in raising a happy child. It gently pokes fun at first time parents in a kindly manner and is a great story for young children.

We love Baby Brains. It's a story about a brilliant baby and is written by Simon James (who also wrote 'The Wild Woods). As a parent, it also made me laugh as the parents do all the things that first time parents in fiction do, such as 'reading and playing language tapes' to the bump! Baby Brains actually turns out to be extremely clever...but even he wants to be cuddled and treated like a baby in the end. The illustrations are by Quentin Blake so are gorgeous too. Thoroughly recommended!

An unusual picture book, that pokes tongue-in-cheek fun at new parents with high ambitions for their baby, that equally appeals to children. Cartoon-style illustrations and lots of humorous interactions between Mr and Mrs Brains and 'Baby Brains' - including a scene that will have your children shouting out in anticipation (clue it's in space!). Quirky and funny!

This is such a charismatic book about a brainy little baby who, although is very intelligent and mature (and smart!) for his age, surprisingly behaves in a typically baby way when left all alone in outer space!
My daughter adores this book and this has become a staple bedtime read for us! We love looking at all the amazing things baby brains is able to do. Best of all, my daughter loves to scream out "I want my mummy!" with baby brain during his outer space mission.

This is a really odd and funny book. The story starts off with Mr and Mrs Brains who are about to have a baby. When the baby is in Mrs Brain's tummy they make it listen to the news and music. The baby is born one evening and then the next morning Mr and Mrs Brains wake up and see the baby is reading the newspaper on the couch. They find out that the baby is really really clever and can do lots of things like help fix the car and do the dishes.  I thought it was a really good book and it made me laugh lots.

This book is a charming story about having your first baby and doing all the right things! For Mrs Brains, this really works and makes her baby incredibly clever!! This story is about his adventures, going to school, university, work and finally into space, where he realises he's still a baby and wants his mummy! The children thought is was hilarious that a baby could do all these things.

Very good story that appealed both to my 2 year old and my 4 year old.
It’s easy to relate to, as it’s about a baby, so they were captivated by it.
It demonstrated that even though the baby was very intelligent, it was still a baby and still needed his Mum!

This is a perfect book for first time parents. Mr and Mrs Brains do many things to make sure that their baby is born clever (such as playing Mozart to him before he his born). Indeed he is born clever, and the story explores the excitement and perils that this brings. I really loved reading this book to my sons in their early years, as the love that the parents have for their child shines through - they want to offer their son the besr start in life that they can give him and they also value his happiness.

My daughter has enjoyed this story, she likes the part when the baby goes into space and calls for his Mummy. She likes to copy what he's saying! I did find O was saying the word brains an awful lot, Mr brains, baby brains, Mrs brains and although children like repetition I found myself getting tounge twisted! That said my audience enjoyed the story and has asked for it to be read to her a few times!
