When Nick and his family move to a new house, their magic piano, Ermytrude, protests by sending wolfhounds, comets, sirens, horses and other animals after the man next door.
Nick must try to make peace with their new neighbours and get Ermytrude to act like a real piano again, all while helping his family to cope with the death of their father. Will Nick ever be able to play the grand piano without him?
And will Ermyntrude let him play music anymore, anyway?
