"I am a hopeless case - everything I do always does go wrong in the end."

Mildred Hubble may be the worst witch at Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches, but she's the best friend you'll ever have.

-----

Summer term has started at Miss Cackle's Academy, and somehow the disaster-prone Mildred has made it to Year Four.

Even though everyone knows her as the Worst Witch in the School, she's secretly set her sights on winning the school's highest honour.

Yes, Mildred wants to be Head Girl!

Can she stay out of trouble and prove to everyone that even the worst witch can turn her fortunes around?
Not if her arch-enemy Ethel Hallow has anything to do with it...

'The Worst Witch is back - and it's as subtly feminist as ever' - New Statesman

Read the rest of Mildred's (mis)adventures: The Worst Witch , A Bad Spell for the Worst Witch , The Worst Witch All at Sea , The Worst Witch Saves the Day , The Worst Witch to the Rescue and The Worst Witch and the Wishing Star.

The worst witch

"This book is about a girl called Mildred who is extremely cheeky sometimes. The thing I liked about this book is the ending. The pictures are lovely." Amatullah

Mildred Hubble is back in another mayhem filled story. I loved The Worst Witch when I was a child and now my daughter does too. She whizzed through this book, stopping only to tell me the exciting bits. She is hooked on The Worst Witch now. Jill Murphy's illustrations are still how I've always imagined the characters to look like.

THE original witch is still as loveable today as she was when I was a child. It was an absolute pleasure to introduce my daughter to The Worst Witch.

In this book,Mildred's surprisingly acrobatic dog (which she found) gets claimed by the circus.Poor Mildred can't bear to be separated and so she goes and finds the circus and trades some magical toothbrushes, a dustpan and brush and a broom for her dog, a horse and a seal.
Unexpectedly she still gets head girl at school, she is not the worst witch after all...
This book was great, I loved the illustrations and enjoyed reading it.

Another great read by Jill Murphy! If you love the other worst witch book then you will love this one! My daughter really enjoyed this story and was able to read parts herself. She loved it when the witch got up to mischief and won unusual prizes for the children at the school.

Funny and entertaining, this is a must read for those with a brilliant imagination. Little pictures along the way add to the charm of this magical tale. My 5 year old now wants to get the rest from the library!

A great book which our eight year old was able to read independently and share with myself too. I grew up with Jill Murphy books so loved sharing it with my own child. My daughter loved it as she is a big fan of the tv series. The hardback version of the book made it feel all the more special and a grown up book to keep for many years to come, maybe my daughter will share it with my grandchildren!

What an absolutely amazing book. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and highly recommended.

The best part of the book was when Mildred Hubble found a dog and that did loads of stuff and made her surpass her expectations! Ethel was up to her normal tricks and one of them was to try and get rid of Mildred's dog.

My favourite part of the book was when Mildred won a swimming pool for the whole school but the students there did not expect that as it was quite an unusual prize to win with lots of surprises!

This book make me feel like it is a whole new world!

As the 3 girls always stick together and try to ignore the mean things Ethel Hallow says.

Overall verdict, if you love The Worst Witch be in for a few surprises and enjoy the read and various illustrations.
