A beautiful collection of winter stories. This book looks gorgeous. It's blue bound hardcover looks very classic and it now sits wonderfully on our bookcase. The stories are equally as wonderful, perfect for festive nights, snuggled together on the sofa. Our favourite story was Casse-Noisette and we also loved the poem Snow. I think this would make a wonderful gift for a child

Firstly i want to start off by saying how much i fell in love with this book when i first saw it, it is so elegantly illustrated with such a simple but effective design. The ice blue combined with the stark white and black imagery is superb- it would make a most beautiful gift. This book is bound with a hard back cover and really deserves to be too. I heard a lot of hype about this book before i read it and man did it stand up to the hubbub!!

The book contains a collection of stories by some of our best and brightest writers, it has been eloquently curated and written. The stories complement each other and you can drift from one experience to another quite effortlessly, even transcending time. I enjoyed being snuggled up with a blanket reading it.

If you are looking for a tale of mystery, excitement, mythical creatures, time-travel, adventure and an overall cosy feeling- this is most definitely the book for you! This is a book to treasure and read over and over again... preferably by an open fire with a mug of hot chocolate! Don't forget the marshmallows!!

I actually bought this for my niece as a Christmas gift but was forced to read it myself before I wrapped it up!  Winter Magic is a sparkling collection of short stories from some of today's top children's authors.  The gorgeous cover gives a hint of the wonders which lay within.
There really is something for everyone in this anthology - elves, terrible enchantments, a frost fair and a strange underground community.  I think this would be a fantastic choice for fans of short, gripping stories, a reluctant reader or perhaps someone who'd like to expand the range of authors they read.
Featured authors: Michelle Harrison, Piers Torday, Lauren St. John, Amy Alward, Katherine Woodfine, Geraldine McCaughren, Berlie Doherty, Jamila Gavin, Michelle Magorian, Emma Carroll and Abi Elphinstone.  Phew!  What a line-up!

Beautiful collection of stories, in such a lovely book which we are sure would draw any avid reader to it. Ollie's favourites were 'A Night at the Frost Fair' by Emma Carroll and 'The Room with the Mountain View' by Lauren St John. He thought these were both caring and exciting

A wonderful, enchanting mix of stories enclosed in a beautiful hardback cover.  I read the stories out loud with my 7 and 12 year old girls.  None of us wanted to miss out, so a snuggle on a cold wintery evening reading together was called for.  My favourite story was the first in the book, a magical story including secrets and time travel.  It set the scene for the rest of the stories.  We have loved sharing this book together.  The stories are not particularly short, so for my 7 year old I had to split each into two parts due to her bedtime, but have to admit to putting her to bed late one night because we had to read on!  Both my older daughter and I have read some of the books that characters are taken from eg Amy Alward's "Potion Magic" this did not prevent my younger daughter enjoying the story, as each stands alone, and in fact makes her want to read more by each author.  This can only be a good thing.

An awesome anthology of short wintery tales from the best contemporary children's writers. We had previously read stories by Michelle Harrison ('The Other Alice') and Abi Elphinstone ('Dreamsnatcher') so we knew we would like this collection. The first tale by Emma Carroll immediately draws you in to the magical world of a frozen London, as its main character travels through time.

These stories are sure to take you through the dark nights of winter and are great to read together . The book itself is just as beautiful as the stories - beautiful wintery scene against an icy blue background. Great read and highly recommended.

I thought this was a wonderful collection of winter stories. They had magic, magical creatures, and. Of course, snow.
I thought that all of the stories fitted together perfectly, and it's one of my favourite stories for winter.

I most enjoyed The Magic of Midwinter because magic, magical creatures and snow! My favourite characters were the Swenland Elves because they were so cheerful and clever. I also liked all the different potions Samantha made, and all the new technology.

This is an AMAZING book!

This book was fantastic! The charming winter stories were amazing and my particular favourite was 'A Room With a Mountain View' because it left me always wanting to read what happened next. The hardback, glittery cover gives an icy summary of what is to come throughout the book. A brilliant book to read when you're snuggled up in front of the fire with a glass of warm blackcurrant! Not one story will disappoint you, although the poem was a little disappointing - almost out of place with what is in the rest of the book. All in all, a brilliant book and I would definitely recommend it.

The front cover of the book itself looks magical, I really enjoyed  the first story in the book, I like the fact it has different stories so its easy to put down and pick up and start  reading a new one. I would recommend winter magic  to my friends, in fact I have passed the book on to others.

Lovely short enchanting stories.  The book has eleven stories with winter themes, the book has a lovely solid cover and illustration on the front.  There are no pictures in the book.

The writing is smaller than my daughter of 9 is used to so she did not want to read it herself.

Winter Magic is the perfect winter read with stories that capture the delight and pleasure of the season, written by some of my favourite authors. This wonderful collection of tales vividly describe the wonders hidden in the snow, and there are elves, huskies, snow dragons, and even Russian ballet, so delightful that all will enjoy. I strongly suggest you get yourself a cup of hot cocoa and a mince pie, and get reading!
