I read it to Lilibet aged 4 aged 4 & to Arto aged 7 months aged 0

After we read this, my 4 year old daughter declared it her 'new favourite book' and asked to be read it again. Twice. And I didn't mind because it is a very sweet story: 4 woodland friends go in search of books. They find a house (or tree) full of them and get stuck in, but then the bear comes home...

It promotes a love of books, adventures and friends. And it is a good story to base discussions on sharing, people having more/less than you and what we all love most about books.

Because of the lovely illustrations, magical story and solid hard back nature of this book, it would work well as a gift.

Very sweet story about 4 woodland friends who love to read, who then make a new friend of someone who loves to read.

The pictures are very cute. The story is lovely and has good messages about sharing with friends by reading together.

My 4 year old wanted to hear it again and again.  Definitely a hit in this house

Georgie and I have read this book every night since it arrived. It is such a lovely story and fosters the love of reading and books not just by being a book but by promoting libraries.
Georgie loves all of the animals too.

A lovely hard back bedtime story enjoyed by us all. A story where the characters share a love of books and build a friendship around there love. This book brought up many subjects and questions for my 4 year old who in reception class is learning about sharing and respecting other people's belongings. She questioned why the friends couldn't keep the book and how she and her sister enjoy reading aloud. Beautiful illustrations and a book she has asked for over and over.

This is a brilliant story with a lovely message of sharing books with others is a wonderful thing.

Four woodland animals only have one story which they read day after Day. They set out to find new books and their adventure leads them to Bear who has a whole houseful of books and therefore lots of happy endings.

My children loved this story and the illustrations. As we all love reading I think they could really relate to the story and the characters.

Four friends love reading together but only have one storybook.... so they go out on the search for more... and as luck would have it actually find one dropped on the ground near their home - and its a GREAT story. Looking more closely at the book, they find an inscription - it belongs to a badger the other side of the woods. Badger is out when they reach his home, but they try and post the book through an open window - accidentally posting mouse at the same time. Mouse opens up the door and lets them all in.... to a badger's house full of books. The friends settle down and start reading together as they feast on the jam-sandwiches they'd packed for their adventure. Badger returns home to find the intruders - and is initially cross that they've made some of his books sticky with jam - but is then delighted that they've returned the book as it was his favourite. The 5 animals settled down and read the story together... and have such a lovely time... badger decides to open his home up as a library (but with a ban on jam sandwiches!).

This is a delightful book - endearing illustrations of the animals / woodland and a sweet story reflecting the joy that comes with sharing stories and reading with friends. As soon as we'd finished reading it, my daughter made me read it again twice - the sign of a strong book. This would be an excellent book to use on World Book Day. We'll also about to review one of the £1 books to be issued for World Book Day - I'd definite recommend people using their £1 voucher towards this book which - i feel - does a much better job in promoting a love (& respect in looking after them) for books as well as the importance of sharing with friends.

This is a lovely story of adventure, friendship and sharing. It's a large sized hard back book, making it easy to pinpoint on the bookshelf to read again and again. My two and a half year old loves books, and Bear's house with all his books reminds me of my son's bedroom stuffed full of books of every genres for every occasion. My son really took a liking to this book and each time we read it he shows me where Bear dropped his book, which the woodland friends later find beneath a bush. It's a delightful feel-good book with a positive ending, and well illustrated.

I'm really impressed with how quick this book was delivered. It's a large hardback book, perfect for storytime at night. Sophie is a bookworm, she gets through 5 play (flipflap/touch & feel) books in the day and one story book evrynight. She fell asleep to this book, perfect. Not too long, a lovely sweet story about three animals on a book hunt. They find the most fantastic story book but it belongs to bear and has an address. They go and find the owner and he has hundreds of books, Sophie would love to visit bears house. They all soon become friends and bear learns it is better to share books together.
A lovely heartwarming tale of woodland animals. The fozlx is my favourite character but Sophie is the bear. Hopefully she learns the same lesson in life. Beautiful illsutrations. Highly recommend for all little ones.

We all loved this story! All the friends only have the same books to read when they find a book which belongs to bear. When they go to return it beat isn't home but they discover he has a whole library and they can't resist staying to read some even though they don't have permission! The ending is heartwarming and shows just how magical stories can be when shared!

We loved this story all about books! Emily is a little bookworm so the battered favourite book of the friends made us giggle! The story also helps little ones to learn about respecting other people's things, morals, sharing and friendship. All with lovely pictures! After I read this story Emily was happy to read the book herself-its now in her bed with a jam sandwich lol! X
