It is nearly bedtime, when Richard hears something coming from his bedroom that may be a monster. He gets scared and runs off through the forest, and ends up in a magical jungle. With the help of a stuffed Lion, Lionheart, Richard finds the courage needed to face his fears.  It is a lovely story that is beautifully illustrated, bravery and facing fears being the focus of the story. It also mentions various animals, mainly from Africa, so helps with learning and recognising animals.

This book is so beautiful. The Art work inside is as good as something you would put up onto your wall which makes the reading experience even better. I Love the adventure feeling in this story and how one page leaves you wanting to read the next. The Story overall is really beautiful and the characters magical but also have realistic qualities like fear and bravery.

When this arrived the book was great quality, nice big hard back book. I read this to my little boy at bedtime and he loved it, I had to read it again and again. He loves animals, so loved entering the magical jungle part. His best bit was when they roar, which he kept joining in with. This book, will teach children about bravery, and not to be afraid. Such a great story with very nice illustrations to keep them interested. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Such a beautiful book.  It's a bigger boo and needs to be so you can fully appreciate the illustrations.  You need to read this book again and again to really take in all that is in the images, truly beautiful and great for children to explore.  There is something really magical about the pictures and they totally captivated my three year old.
The story focuses on bravery, as the little boy runs away from the scary monsters, but finds bravery from his friend Lionheart which gives him courage to face his fears.
A truly beautiful book.

As soon as this book arrived, my son had me read it to him immediately. He's a huge lover of animals so he was drawn in by the lion on the cover. It follows Richard and his teddy Lionheart. Richard gets scared of monsters (which is really his fear) at night and when he thinks he hears one he keeps running until he gets to a magical jungle. He loses Lionheart along the way and eventually finds him again but not as his teddy lion, a REAL lion! He meets lots of other animals and has tons of fun with them (and Lionheart) and he forgets that he is scared. The "monster" catches up with him and he remembers that his Lionheart has taught him to be brave. Together they roar and defeat the monster. Richard is then in his own bed, not afraid of monsters anymore. My son really enjoyed this book and I did too. He is at an age now where he knows his own feelings, with fear being one of them. I think it is a lovely way to reassure him that if he's brave and strong, he doesn't need to be afraid of anything. The illustrations are beautiful too and they are a lot more grown up than any previous books that we've read. I'd definitely recommend Lionheart.

this is a great book, i really enjoyed reading it to my little girl. its lovely big book with wonderful coloured illustrations that kept her interested throughout whilst i read the whole book to her. the storyline could be really helpful for younger children who are scared of going to bed. my daughter loved doing the ROAR at the end. I can see this book being read many times as our new bedtime story.
