An uplifting celebration of friendship and a powerful depiction of imaginative play, this is the tale of two thrill-seeking friends on a mission ... a mission to find gold."LET'S FIND GOLD," said Anna. "That would be dangerous and difficult," said Crocodile. "Good!" said Anna. "Let's go!" From the award-winning picture book creator of There are Cats in This Book comes a story of imaginative play and of two friends, Anna and Crocodile, who are on the hunt for gold. But finding gold isn't easy. Oh no! It's dangerous and difficult and requires planning. First, they must master their secret-keeping faces. Then Anna must pick up Crocodile, to be sure she's strong enough to carry all the gold. Finally, they must draw the whole world together, with an X that marks the spot, before sailing off in their boat. What will the two friends discover? Teeming with adventurous spirit and boasting wonderfully funny dialogue, this story introduces two unforgettable characters in a gorgeous, classic new art style from Viviane Schwarz, one of the most innovative and creatively inspired picture book makers of today.

How To Find Gold is a very fun book. I especially loved the treasure map and made one of my own to show my class at school. Anna and the Crocodile were great friends and went on a brilliant adventure together. The pictures were great too! I really enjoyed this story.

Anna is a little girl who's best friend is a crocodile. Together they go in search for some treasure and they discuss all the difficulties they may face, but decide to tackle it head on. It's a great story about going for it, an adventure and being brave. My boy absolutely loved it and loved all the treasure hunting. A lovely book.

This is a lovely picture book, with a simple plot and beautiful bold illustrations, which drew and held my daughter's attention. We loved the element of adventure and their mission to find gold, as well as the cautious crocodile! After the story we had lots of talk about gold at the end of the rainbow, then led by my 7 year old son (who helped read the story to my daughter) talk quickly progressed onto pirates and treasure maps. So out came the art supplies and both made maps with big crosses on where the gold was hidden and they were off on their own adventure!

How to Find Gold is a fab story and we loved reading it together.  Anna is such a lovely character and it's so nice to see a female character in such an adventurous story. It inspired my girls into making treasure maps, just like the two characters too!

We really enjoy reading this book together, Anna and her friend Crocodile want to find gold, Anna feels very brave about doing dangerous things to find it, Crocodile isn't so sure. Really nice to have a strong female character who answers 'Good' when told something might be difficult or dangerous! It's a funny book and the illustrations are lovely, really lovely to see the full range of Viviane Schwarz's talent. We particularly loved the map making (my son loves making maps at the moment) and the faces they make to look like they aren't thinking about gold.

How to find gold is the best kind of adventure; one that features friendship, far away places, and, of course, a map with a big X on it. Anna want to find gold, but Crocodile warns her that such adventures are dangerous. All the better, says Anna - and us! We loved how bright and bold this book's illustrations are, how simple the plot is to follow, and how the words come together to create a magical journey into the unknown. We could never be sure if Anna and Crocodile were on a real adventure or not, which made the idea of trotting off to find out own gold even more appealing. We'll certainly be looking up the author's other publications now. Thank you!

I read this to my Little girl Sophia, She really liked Anna and said she was just like her, she liked that they were going on an adventure. Sophia thought the crocodile did not sound very friendly but also said but I don't think  the crocodile will eat Anna. Sophia liked hearing about the map and how to find gold and is busy making a map herself now. She loved the pictures of them under water, this was her favourite part. Sophia really liked this book and has asked to read it again at bedtime. Sophia loves pirates so I think this really attracted her and with an adventure thrown in she was hooked. A lovely little book for an aspiring Pirate. Thank you for letting us review it.
