My children loved this book, and it was brilliant for getting them to use their imagination, which is always great. Baby bear builds himself a rocket out of a cardboard box and some other things and goes on an adventure to the moon. My children enjoyed telling me what they would use to make a rocket, and what they would do on the moon, it really got their imagination going. The illustrations were great, and its a great story. Definitely a book I am going to buy for my children.

We came across this story after reading Peace at Last and enjoying the author. We enjoyed this story so much we bought props and made it interactive with boxes for a rocket, foil for space boots, colanders for space helmets, a dolls picnic basket and an owl puppet. A lovely story, with our without props, that helps encourage little ones to use their imagination.

When I picked up this book last night to read to my 2 year old, I had fond memories of reading it to a nursery class I taught and using props.  Last night I was met with the same delighted smile of a child following bears adventure to the moon in a makeshift rocket and his adventures of meeting an owl and sharing a picnic.  This book is sure to become a firm favourite and needless to say we will be utilising it to create a story sack for home.

Lovely story about a teddy who imagines flying to the moon in a cardboard box and meeting an owl on his way then returning home in time for his bath. My nearly two year old loves this story I do do as well I can just imagine her doing something similar

We bought this book purely because we were going to see a stage show of it and wanted to know the story before hand.

Jill Murphy is a great story teller and helps the children use their imagination.

This is a charming story with beautiful illustrations. It is about a little bear who makes himself a rocket from a cardboard box and flies to the moon and back, all before bathtime. A lovely gentle story that will encourage your little one's imagination, and a story they will relate to easily. I found this book to be a good length for my little girl to listen to and the illustrations helped her to understand the content of the story. Definitely one to read over and over.

This is a fantastic book. It's the simple story of a bear who wants to go to the moon so uses a few handy household objects to get himself there! A lovely off-shoot of this has been my daughter climbing into cardboard boxes and pretending they are rockets. She's always loved a cardboard box but this has encouraged her to think of it as something else. There are not too many words per page, making this suitable for the very youngest children. We will read this together for some time to come.

It's bath time for Baby Bear but first he has an adventure to go on! Lovely story which wonderfully portrays the power of a child's imagination. One for both parent and child to enjoy reading over and over again.

Delightful book - been through our family for over 28 years! I used to read it to my brother and now I’m reading it to my son.. love the imagination of baby bear using his ‘rocket’ to get to the moon! Beautiful book with beautiful illustrations - one of Jill Murphys best in my opinion!

This book definitely appeals to the younger imagination- finding items around the house, building a rocket and going up to the moon!  My boys are always in their own imaginary world and this fits right in!  It helps that the bear comes back down to earth at the end with bath time, to help distinguish between reality and fantasy!  A lovely story.

Whatever Next! is a lovely story of a bears adventures to the moon. It is a great book to read to the children as they enjoy hearing bears story and how he ends up using his imagination to find all the items he needs to take a trip to the moon. The children enjoy seeing all the things he includes, especially in the picnic as they like telling all their friends about what they'd eat from bears picnic which is great as it always has them paying attention to the story. I think the young bear is a lovely character as he shows the children that you can do whatever you like if you want it enough and even mummy bear can't get in the way of that! It's great for the children to see a relatable bear have such fun and is a great opportunity for us to discuss what they'd like to do in their imagination (or reality). The illustrations are beautiful of the young bear and his mum and the detail is great to see everything the bear thought he'd need for his trip to the moon. The children enjoy looking at the pictures of this book as there's so much they like to talk about, from the picnic food to the people in the plane! The children enjoy being read Whatever Next! and is a story that tends to be a comforting read for them as they relax and listen to bears adventures, whatever next!
