Each unit includes a photocopiable extract of high quality text (fiction, non-fiction or poetry), a photocopiable pupil question page which includes space for answers, a set of model answers with analysis of the language used in the questions and how this indicates the type of responses expected.
Each unit
* enables teaching of either retrieval or inference
* develops vocabulary
* includes questions covering one from summarising, predicting, identifying how content is related, or making comparisons across the text
These questions provide teachers which can focus pupils on the language and visual structures used in the test, thereby building familiarity and confidence. Each unit can be used for targeted instruction or for precision intervention whether that be at whole class, group or individual pupil level.
